The Ozzy

This will be another parallel profile board. It is still in the infant stages so far and I haven’t even gotten a photo of it yet.

There are a couple of interesting features going  into this board.

First off, I am using CA instant glue to assemble the internal frames. The idea is to assemble the frames as I cut them out using CA glue to instantly bond them. When Its time to glue frame to deck and frame to frame, I will use thickened epoxy and be careful to trowel it into any gaps left by the CA to insure a strong and water tight joint. The CA glue bonds well enough to hold things together at this stage but it’s not much good for filling gaps and I don’t think the brand I’m using is water proof.

Another interesting feature will be the plan shape.  This board will be on the shorter side, about 6’6″ and will have either a crescent shaped fish tail or perhaps a bat tail and a rounded nose similar (actually identical) to the Mini Pintail PP. I dubbed it The Ozzy because the original concept drawing looked kind of like a tombstone. That and the bat tail made me think of the Ozz man and the name has just stuck in my head. I may change my mind later but for now that’s what I’m calling it.

The idea of this board is a variation of the Mini Pintail PP with a broader tail section. I’m hoping the extra volume in the tail will make for a more stable ride and easier wave catching ability. I’m already expecting the Mini Pintail to be a bit of a challenge to ride for someone of my ability but I also expect it to be somewhat of a performance board.

Anyway, I’ll get some pics up as soon I have something worth looking at…
