Mini Pintail PP – Putting the lid on

Here I’ve added the last of the additional internal supports as mentioned earlier.

You can see that I’ve cut out the outline of the board before I applied the final layer which is the top deck.

I did this because there is very little room for error in the area of the rail material along the edges of the board. Once I put the top deck on I can’t see where the rail material ends any longer and so its very difficult to get the outline of the board precisely placed inside the lines. Doing it this way takes all of the guess work out of it.

Now that i have that cut out I can go ahead and put the top on without any worries. All I have to do is cut around the edges and I’m all set.

Here is the top deck being glued on.

And here it is all glued on and then flipped up-side-down ready  to be cut out.

And what I’m left with is a rough shape of a surfboard. I’ll clean the lines up with a belt sander and rasp and then start shaping the rails.
