It’s been a while since I’ve done any work on this board.
Today I started to get things moving again.
I started off by spending some time setting up the tunnel fin. I haven’t attached it yet but I cut the groves that it will sit in and adjusted the mounting angle. I’ll have to re-adjust this angle when I do the final mounting of the fin but I have some work to do before then.
To set the angle, first I position the board bottom up and make it level. Then I set the fin angled for a couple of degrees of lift. That places the front of the fin closer to the bottom of the board than the back of the fin.Without the level you can barely tell by eye:
Next I went around with some thickened epoxy and filled up any obvious leaks I could find. Small gaps like this add up to big leaks in the water. I just mush the paste in with a gloved finger.
Once I get all of those leeks filled and sanded down I’ll lay a sealer coat of epoxy over the whole board and then mount the fin.
